You can turn your Oculus Quest into a VR headset for PC

Promised during this year's Oculus conference, Oculus Link technology is now deployed in beta by Facebook. A way to democratize virtual reality a little more?

At the end of September 2019 was held the sixth edition of the conference Oculus Connect. On this occasion, Mark Zuckerberg had announced that, thanks to the Oculus Link technology, transforming an Oculus Quest - autonomous - headset into a device to connect to the PC would be possible.

The beta phase of this software solution (Oculus Desktop) is now available to all Quest helmet owners. Rift portal games developed for our powerful machines!

     Physical restrictions for beta

To enjoy it, you only need to have a Quest headset, a good PC (8GB memory, Intel Core i5 4590 or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X minimum) and a USB Type-C cable to enjoy . It is thanks to this cable that the headset and the computer will dialogue and that transforming the Quest PC game device is possible.

Be careful though, not all graphics cards are supported by the beta yet. Only Nvidia Titan Xp, GeForce GTX 1060 (desktop PC only), GeForce GTX 1070, GeForce GTX 1080, GeForce RTX and GTX 16 series are recommended and fully supported. No AMD chip is supported at the moment.

For cable, Facebook recommends the use of an accurate Anker PowerLine + cable (AK-A8161011, available on Amazon) until its home model of 5 meters, fiber optic, and expected for a price of 80 euros is available at the sale.
